CITY OF DANIA BEACH WATER UTILITY TO TEMPORARILY SWITCH TO FREE CHLORINE FOR PREVENTATIVE MAINTENANCEDania Beach, FL The City of Dania Beach will temporarily switch to free chlorine for all its utilities customers from Sept. 1 through 22, 2024, for preventative maintenance. This routine procedure provides additional protection against bacteria and is a common practice for water suppliers using chlorine disinfection. The Florida Department of Health recommends this periodic program. During the chlorination period, customers may notice a slight change in the taste or smell of their tap water. Additionally, residents might see water running from fire hydrants in their neighborhoods, which is part of the normal maintenance process. Special Considerations: Kidney dialysis centers, nephrologists, and hospitals have been notified to make any necessary adjustments in their processes. Questions regarding kidney dialysis should be directed to the users doctor or dialysis specialist. Some aquatic and marine animal species are sensitive to free chlorine. Individuals maintaining aquariums with sensitive species are advised to contact their pet supply stores regarding de-chlorination.
