David's Bridal Provides Notice of Data Event
King of Prussia, Pennsylvania ?? November 25, 2024. David's Bridal is providing notice of an event that may affect certain personal information. David's Bridal is providing details regarding the incident, as well as offering information individuals who may be affected can use to help protect their personal information.
In late January 2024, David's Bridal identified unusual activity on certain network systems and took action to contain the activity, and immediately began an investigation. Through the investigation, it was determined certain information may have been copied from the system without authorization on or around January 21, 2024. David's Bridal then promptly began a comprehensive review of the relevant files to confirm what information was present, to whom the information related, and contact information for those individuals. In August 2024, the investigation determined certain personal information was in relevant files. The type of information potentially affected varies by individual, but may include name, date of birth, Social Security number, driver's license or state identification number, passport information, medical information, and health insurance information. Based on the investigation, it did not affect consumer payment card information.
David's Bridal takes the security of information very seriously and, in response to this incident, took steps to conduct a detailed investigation and to further secure its systems. David's Bridal encourages anyone who may be affected to remain vigilant against instances of identity theft and fraud by reviewing account statements and monitoring free credit reports for suspicious activity and to detect errors. Under U.S. law, a consumer is entitled to one free credit report annually from each of the three major credit reporting bureaus, Equifax, Experian, and TransUnion. To order a free credit report, visit www.annualcreditreport.com or call, toll-free, 1-877-322-8228. Consumers may also directly contact the three major credit reporting bureaus listed below to request a free copy of their credit report. Consumers have the right to place an initial or extended "fraud alert" on a credit file at no cost. An initial fraud alert is a 1-year alert that is placed on a consumer's credit file the requires a business to take steps to verify the consumer's identity before extending new credit. If consumers are the victim of identity theft, they are entitled to an extended fraud alert, which is a fraud alert lasting seven years. As an alternative to a fraud alert, consumers have the right to place a "credit freeze" on a credit report, which will prohibit a credit bureau from releasing information in the credit report without the consumer's express authorization. Consumers should be aware that using a credit freeze to take control over who gets access to the personal and financial information in their credit report may delay, interfere with, or prohibit the timely approval of any subsequent request or application they make regarding a new loan, credit, mortgage, or any other account involving the extension of credit. Pursuant to federal law, consumers cannot be charged to place or lift a credit freeze on their credit report. To place a fraud alert or credit freeze on a credit file, individuals may contact the three major consumer reporting agencies at the following: Equifax - https://www.equifax.com or 1-888-298-0045; Experian - https://www.experian.com or 1-888-397-3742; TransUnion - https://www.transunion.com or 1-800-916-8800.
