NOTICE OF INTENTION TO CONSIDER
ADOPTION OF COUNTY ORDINANCE
NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN TO WHOM IT MAY CONCERN that on January 28, 2026, at 9:00 A.M. or as soon thereafter as the matter may be heard, at the Marathon Government Center, 2798 Overseas Highway, 2nd Floor, Marathon, Florida, 33050, the Board of County Commissioners of Monroe County, Florida, intends to consider adopting the following ordinance:
AN ORDINANCE OF THE BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS OF MONROE COUNTY, FLORIDA, AMENDING THE COUNTYS CODE OF ORDINANCES, BY AMENDING CHAPTER 13, FIRE PREVENTION AND PROTECTION, ARTICLE I, IN GENERAL, BY ENACTING SECTION 13-1, ADOPTION OF MINIMUM FIRE PREVENTION AND LIFE SAFETY CODES TO INCORPORATE BY REFERENCE THE STATE-MANDATED MINIMUM FIRESAFETY CODE AS FURTHER DESCRIBED THEREIN; AND BY AMENDING ARTICLE II, FIRE MARSHAL, SECTION 13-27, APPOINTMENT, JOB DESCRIPTION, BY RETITLING THE SECTION TO LOCAL FIRE OFFICIAL TO UPDATE TERMINOLOGY; PROVIDING FOR CONFLICTS; PROVIDING FOR SEVERABILITY; PROVIDING FOR CODIFICATION; AND PROVIDING FOR TRANSMITTAL AND AN EFFECTIVE DATE.
The proposed ordinance may be inspected by the public at the Monroe County website by viewing the agenda packet for the January 28, 2026, meeting, which will be posted beginning on January 22, 2026 at: https://www.monroecounty-fl.gov/695/BOCC-Meetings-Agendas. The ordinance may also be viewed at the Monroe County Attorneys Office at 1111 12th Street, Suite 408, Key West, FL 33040.

Pursuant to Section 286.0105, Florida Statutes, notice is given that if a person decides to appeal any decision made by the Board of County Commissioners with respect to any matter considered at such meetings or hearings, that person will need a record of the proceedings, and for such purpose, that person
will need to ensure that a verbatim record is made of the proceedings, which record includes the testimony and evidence upon which the appeal is to be based.
